The
INTERREG
III
A
France-Walloon
area-
Flanders
plan
is
a
community
initiative
with
funding
from
the
European
Regional
Development
Fund
and
from
the
many
regions
that
it
covers
:
This
initiative
is
an
essential
element
in
the
creation
of
and
support
for
cross-border
activities
between
France
and
Belgium,
contributing
as
it
does
to
the
co-financing
of
concrete
cross-border
activities
on
the
Franco-Belgian
border.
Based
on
three
sub-plans
:
tripartite,
Franco-Walloon
and
Franco-Flemish,
the
activities
fall
into
a
number
of
different
areas,
such
as
economic
development,
tourism,
cultural
development,
training,
technological
innovation,
environmental
issues,
rural
development,
daily
life,
health,
etc.
Measure
2.2
of
the
INTERREG
III
A
France-Walloon
area-Flanders
plan
concerns
the
development
of
tourist
and
cultural
potential
in
the
cross-border
territories.
It
encompasses
four
types
of
action
:
|
 |
developing
the
tourism
structure
by
improving
its
quality
and
creating
networks,
supporting
the
private
sector,
making
the
most
of
the
historical
heritage,
creating
tourist
routes
that
cover
the
whole
area
; |
 |
promoting
tourism
by
creating
new
markets,
networking,
advertising
and
marketing,
technical
management,
exchanging
expertise
and
organising
shared
or
complementary
tourist
events
; |
 |
improving
accommodation
in
and
access
to
tourist
areas,
by
setting
up
quality
charters,
networking,
developing
communications,
particularly
developing
a
co-ordinated
system
of
sign
posting
for
routes,
increasing
the
professionalism
of
the
tourist
sector. |
 |
developing
the
cultural
potential
of
the
cross-border
area
by
sharing
expertise,
encouraging
the
general
public
to
visit
the
other
areas,
allowing
free
movement
of
artists
and
works,
creating
common
cultural
products… |
